Week 1B

Today we chose groups to prepare the IIDCON, Interdisciplinary Interaction Design Conference, event. I was assigned to be part of the speaker group. From what I understand we are to socialize and assist the guest speakers during the event. We need them to be prepared to present their work to the audience.

Then we learned about the types of apps. There are many types of apps including: mobile, web, hybrid, information, utility, lifestyle, and more. This is important because our first large assignment for the class is to design a mobile app that helps solve a problem. We were broken into teams of 2 and I was paired up with Alina Vatafu. We then spent time learning about each other and we learned quite a bit. Then the class played a team building game where we had to use the information we collected from our partners to see how well we know know each other. We did pretty good but we ultimately lost the game. I blame myself because my eyes are weird colors. Never the less, I find her to be lovely and professional. I can't wait to do great work together.

Week 1A

    Today was the first day of design 247 intro to web design. We mostly went over the syllabus for the class which included rules and requirements. I was surprised to see that we need 2 text books for a design class. Any other design class didn't have a required text. Then we learned a little bit about different fields of design and opportunities and what they involve. We learned the importance of beign a user-centered designer and how they must care for the user's wants, needs, and limitations. Design should follow the style not lead with it.
